Roundtable on Music Streaming

Streaming services have completely transformed the way we listen to music – and pay for it. For artists, the work and income structures have thus significantly changed in recent years. Yet it is my no means certain that many clicks lead to a decent income. Aside from few superstars, there are 99 percent of whom are not even paid comparably to the German minimum wage by streaming platforms.

Together with Alexis Georgoulis (MEP, GUE/NGL) I will host the ECSA Creators’ Roundtable on Music Streaming next week. With a number of exciting guests, we will discuss how music streaming works today, how revenues are distributed in the digital value chain – and what alternatives might look like.
