The European Union is a unique success story. It brings lasting peace and greater prosperity. It enriches the lives of many people through the freedom to travel, work and live in 27 great countries. It serves worldwide as a model for successful cooperation between nation states. But in recent years, Europe has increasingly shown its dark sides. People continue to die at our external borders, people who come to us full of hope. The member states Hungary and Poland are blatantly violating fundamental European rights. And with Great Britain, one of the core countries of the European project has left the Union. I am convinced that there is only one way to solve the ongoing crises in Europe: More Europe!
